Hanging Pinch Pleated Drapes

Hanging pinch pleated drapes are one of the most beautiful touches you can add to your décor.

They create a larger looking window and add a finishing touch to your windows.

Hanging pinch pleated drapes are very easy to install.

Double check the size of your curtains before you hang them. I do recommend for having these types of drapes to have double fullness.

So that means that if the pole is 2 meters wide you need 4 meters of flat fabric.

When you are ready to hang your drapes with wonderful pleat with thin fabric I would really recommend double fullness.  This will help with the look and make it look like more expensive fabric.

Once your happy with the size the next step is to gather up the curtains for creating that wonderful fullness that makes tem so special.

If the curtains have a half width then this becomes the outside edge. You can also make these into blackout drapes at this point or even thermal drapes.

Once you decide which curtain is which I would strongly recommend knotting off the three cords. Even if they feel tight it has been known for the cord to slip through.

When you are sure the cord is secure you will need to gather the curtain to correct headed width and lock off with a slip knot with the window treatments.

Secure the excess cord using the cord tie or wrap it around and tuck it into the pleat, this is my preferred option.  Now even out the pleats so they are uniform then fit the hooks as a rough guide approximately 4-7 pockets apart.

Remember if you have too many hooks this will restrict the curtains pulling off the window. Too few hooks and curtains will sag in-between when you hang these kinds of drapes with it.

Once you have hung the curtains I suggest that you dress the pleats in and tie the curtains up using string or a tie back.

Then leave them tied up for at least 48 hours so the folds will hold their shape int he drapery panels.

Determine where your draperies will hang by aligning a measuring tape in the center vertically.

Lower the measuring tape down to a point where you would like your drapery fabric to rest. Then extend your tape above the center to the full length of your window and mark the area with a pencil.

From this mark measure rout each side a distance of half of your rod length. Subtract 6 inches and make a small mark there. Do this for both sides for Hanging pinch pleated drapes and now you have the perfect place to place the drapes!
